Esmaeil is a researcher and entrepreneur working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and the physical world.

He is the founder of navNote AI, an agentic operations platform for retail’s physical workflows. His research spans computer vision, reinforcement learning, 3D LiDAR perception, swarm learning, and ML-based cybersecurity · with presented work across autonomous vehicles, environmental forecasting, and acoustic systems security.

Education: Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Weber State University (Ogden, UT), with coursework and lab work spanning computing, robotics, autonomous systems, and data science. More than $100,000 in combined university scholarships and external research grants has supported his degree and laboratory work.

At 17 he designed an internal-combustion engine — the Two-Stroke X-Shaped Engine — and filed it as an international patent application under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), published by WIPO in 2020. He was top-ranked in Iran’s NODET national talent entrance examination.

Research Scientist

Esmaeil’s research focuses on applied artificial intelligence in real-world, real-time environments · reinforcement learning for autonomous perception, decentralized SWARM learning for collaborative obstacle recognition, ML defenses against acoustic denial-of-service attacks, and predictive modeling on long-horizon environmental sensor data.

As a graduate teaching assistant he co-developed and led a graduate-level course in route planning and navigation for autonomous systems. He presents at undergraduate research forums, and his environmental-data research at the National Center for Water Quality Research was conducted in collaboration with scientists from Harvard Medical School and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Cumulative internal scholarships and external research grants for his education and labs exceed $100,000.

Tech Entrepreneur

Esmaeil is the founder of navNote, building agentic AI for retail’s physical operations. The company points the perception, reasoning, and decision-making behind autonomous systems at the inside of a store: a mobile layer for store and field teams, cloud agents that interpret operational data, and a manager dashboard that turns store operations into a single conversation. It is the alternative to dashboards that watch work happen but never get it done.

navNote runs from 60 Madison Avenue in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, with engineering in Silicon Slopes and a Bay Area presence. The company is in early conversations with national grocers, Direct Store Delivery suppliers, and technology companies, and is working toward a data and API relationship with one of the largest grocery organizations in the United States (pending security and legal review). Esmaeil leads AI/ML across agent orchestration, computer vision, and backend systems; navNote is angel-backed and early-stage, with go-to-market mentorship from the president of a major Kroger subsidiary and advisors from large retail and technology operators.

Outside navNote, he builds independent projects including iTubeLabs, an AI growth platform for creators.

Agentic AI for retail’s physical operations.

The thesis is simple. Modern AI can finally see the physical world, reason about it, and act inside it. The retail floor is where that capability matters most. U.S. retailers spend more than $120 billion a year on store IT, and shelves are still empty. navNote turns the perception and decision-making behind autonomous systems toward the inside of the store, and pairs it with a mobile workforce layer for store and field teams, cloud agents that interpret live operational data, and a manager dashboard that lets leaders ask, monitor, and act across stores in real time. It runs in the cloud, on-prem, or as a hybrid for retailers with strict security and data-residency requirements.

navNote is live in its first retail deployment, with a store team using it daily for audits and price checks, and is in early conversations with national grocers, Direct Store Delivery suppliers, and technology companies. It is working toward a data and API relationship with one of the largest grocery organizations in the United States — to train and evaluate the platform on real retail data — pending security and legal review. The company is angel-backed and early-stage, holds residency at Utah’s flagship innovation hub, was supported in its earliest months by the Weber State MicroFund + State Award ($10K combined, non-dilutive), and is advised by leaders from large retail and technology operators. Go-to-market is shaped by mentorship from the president of a major Kroger subsidiary.

navNote is headquartered at 60 Madison Avenue in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, twenty minutes from the headquarters of much of America’s retail and consumer-goods industry. Engineering operates from Silicon Slopes, with a Bay Area presence for West Coast retail and frontier-AI partnerships. The underlying platform extends well beyond retail, into warehousing, manufacturing, construction, and field sales · the categories that stayed offline while the rest of the economy went software-first.

Founded by Esmaeil Mousavi out of applied research in autonomous perception and real-time decision-making, with product engineering led by Niklas Kennedy (enterprise systems, IBM).
